FAQ

• How do I know how many hours or movers to book?

Choosing the correct amount of time and movers is a job all in its own - actually many companies do employ full-time estimators because it is such a complex task. But all you need to do is just give us a call, email or text message, we will go over a few details with you, get you a quote and get you booked in with our best estimate of movers/time.

• Why are you a moving labor only service? What is the difference between moving labor and a full service move?

We started out doing full service moving, and to be honest, we are not rich, and we know most of you aren't either, and to go at it like we did without any loans it was way too costly to maintain all of the proper licensing, permits, insurances, truck maintenance, etc needed to stay in compliance without passing the high cost on to you, our customers. So we decided to ditch the trucks and the high costs, pass the the savings on to our customers, and offer moving labor only service. What this means for you is, you provide the moving truck or container, and we provide the labor to pack, unpack, load, unload or assemble furniture, or any combination of those services, and you save a bundle of your hard earned cash! We can still do things like pad & wrap your belongings and pack them into boxes, but on an as-requested basis and for an additional charge.

• Are your movers background checked?

Yes, all of our movers are background checked, and actually, most of our movers are family, as we are a family owned and operated company!

• How many furniture pads should I buy/rent?

We recommend one (72" x 80") pad per piece of furniture or fragile item (large vases & ceramic flowerpots, glass from table tops, statuary, etc) that you are wanting to protect, and two to three for large awkward pieces such as couches, large dressers and china cabinets.

• Do you sell/rent moving supplies?

While it is generally less expensive for you to purchase moving supplies beforehand, if requested we will provide any of the supplies you need to make your move a successful one. Due to the need to frequently restock our supplies on hand, they will come at a premium, but yes, if buying ratchet straps slipped your mind, no need to worry, we've got you covered!

• I can only afford your minimum charge, will that be enough time to finish my move?

If you're looking for a fast and efficient move, here are some of the best ways to help:

• Full, well packed boxes stack a whole lot easier and safer, and help maximize your space in the truck. Pack your boxes all the way to the top, but try to keep their weight reasonable. Some people think, big box = pack heaviest items in it. This is actually exactly the opposite of what you should do. Pack items like books in smaller boxes, save large boxes for awkward items like lamps, small kitchen appliances, and/or lighter items such as pillows and comforters

• You can leave items like clothing inside of dressers to save space, but if you are going to do this, please make sure there is nothing inside that is embarrassing, breakable, no loaded weapons and no live animals... yes, we've seen it all.

• Pad & plastic wrap (or tape) furniture before your team of movers arrive to save on time, otherwise they will have to do this and it can become costly if you have a lot of items needing padded and wrapped.

• If possible, stack your packed boxes together in one area of the house that is close to the exit door. This helps keep paths clear for the movers when we are carrying large furniture items out, and it also helps us get loaded up faster if we are not having to go back through the house/rooms multiple times looking for boxes.

• We don't mind if you help, but don't feel obligated to, either. Also, if you are helping, unless you are specifically asked by your movers to spot them or help steady an item, please keep your hands and yourselves clear of the item and your movers - this is for your safety (and ours)!

• Disassemble any furniture items that need it beforehand if you can. Don't forget to bag/box and label hardware/feet for sofas/cables for tvs and motorized beds, etc.

• Keep children and pets in an area that we aren't frequently passing through. Kids and pets, no matter how sweet and helpful they're trying to be, can put us, themselves and your belongings at risk of injury if they accidentally get in the way.

• Keep an eye on the time. Our movers will typically keep an eye on what time it is, but if they're busy working and focused on the job at hand, feel free to remind them of the time remaining so everyone is aware of what still needs done in the amount of time left.

• Stairs and elevators add time to moves, plain and simple. If there is anything you can arrange beforehand, such as reserving a freight elevator or taking small, manageable items down the stairs, these actions will help facilitate a faster move.

• Be available for answering questions and directing your movers to the correct rooms. There is almost nothing during a move as frustrating as trying your hardest to save your customer money and get finished in a timely fashion, than being forced to stand around waiting for an answer or placing items where you know they don't go - only to have to move them again later - because the customer is nowhere to be found or constantly on the phone. Simply being available is one of the biggest, most overlooked time savers. Also figuring out where you want items to go ahead of time and labeling rooms are great ways to make your move more efficient.

Tips from the team

Moving day and the weeks leading up to it can be very stressful for some, and it almost always stirs up a lot of different emotions in people. We see people at their best and their worst. You name it, we've probably seen it or been through it at one time or another, so when your moving team arrives, just relax, we're here to help - we got you!

• Don't forget your phone, wallet, keys, locks, kids, pets. When you're stressed to your limit and in a hurry it's easy to forget to bring even the most basic, obvious things.

• Remember to turn off lights, heat/AC, oven, etc.

• Did you change your address with the post office, creditors, magazine/newspaper subscriptions and let the cable/wifi/phone/garbage company know you're moving?

• If you're not driving the moving truck, do you have a ride to your new place?

• If your move with us is a load and unload, try to plan it during non-peak traffic hours so you aren't stuck in traffic and having to foot the bill for time sitting.
